Have you ever painted on loose canvas, got carried away and forgot to leave a boarder for stretcher bars? Or...you just wanted to practice and play around on loose canvas and the piece turned out better than you thought with no room left over to add a frame or stretch it? Well...I have too...as a matter of fact I have four, maybe even five painted loose canvases that I want to hang.
One way that works really well is to add grommets to your canvas, and while I haven't tried this method here's a link on how to install a grommet... GROMMETS.
The method I like best, and one I've used on several canvases, is adding wood pieces to the top to hang the loose canvas from, as well as wood pieces on the bottom to weigh it down so it hangs straight.
Other than cutting the loose canvases up into smaller pieces and framing them (I don't really want to do this)...I love the way these look hanging, though I'm curios as to what you think. Is this a look you would use in your home? Below are two of the pieces hanging in my corner of the stuio at F1VEart. Which do you prefer...hanging or framed...curiouse artist mind wants to know! Feel free to leave your comment below.
If you think you might like to try wood hangers...click the photo below and I'll show you how.
In the meantime...
I'm getting ready for my two weeks in Gallery 21 / Spanish Village / Balboa Park / San Diego.
I'm excited to have the space all to my self...and my art in such a nice roomy gallery.
I'll talk more about my show in the next few weeks...though for now I hope you'll save the date for one of the days I'm in Gallery 21...
